A few weeks ago there was a Cyclone that came by where we live and left thousands of people without power for days. It is not uncommon to have power outages where we live as there are often extreme weather events and planned power outages too. One of the things that always seems to sell out quickly when people are panic buying is bread and it is very easy to make bread at home with just flour, yeast, water and salt and a pan and gas hobs to cook it in.
If you keep flour and active dried yeast in your pantry then you can make it quickly any time. I enjoyed using this focaccia dough recipe to make bread on the days we were without power, they are perfectly chewy and would also make a great pizza base. They would also be nice to make if you were having some friends or family over for a meal.
