My one week trip to Japan
Tips, shops, and where I ate in Tokyo and Kyoto
I began my trip in Japan in Tokyo, taking a direct flight from Brisbane. Australia and New Zealand feel so far from most places in the world, but the flight to Japan is only 8 and a half hours. My friend, Vicki, was already in Japan for an Ikebana workshop and invited me to join her for a few days at the end of her trip. Earlier this year, I had attempted a solo trip to Greece, but I failed because I hadn’t realised I’ve been struggling with anxiety.
Japan is an excellent destination for solo travel. It’s safe, calm, and clean, and navigating and getting around is easy, even though there are many people. Autumn was a beautiful time of year to travel. The colours were stunning, you don’t get too hot walking around everywhere and it’s not as busy as Spring time when the cherry trees blossom. I’ll link all the places I visited and liked in a map below!
