Our trip to Aotearoa New Zealand

New Zealand is home to me, and I was born in Auckland. My family relocated to the South Island when I was twelve. In my opinion, there’s no better place over this side of the world in summer time, and I always try to make it back. It is not quite as hot as Australia, it’s quieter, and we can be barefoot the entire time because there are no snakes, ticks, or big biting ants.

Travelling with three kids over two is expensive, but flying from the Gold Coast to Auckland on Jetstar is cheaper than getting to Tasmania and Melbourne most of the time. The flight is short, only 2 and a half to 3 hours, and we have never had an issue with Jetstar for this international flight. Arriving in Auckland, the airport is fairly close to the city.
